Big Boo Boo!

Well, the hits just keep coming - literally! When I picked Landon up from school yesterday he was in the front office surrounded by concerned teachers. It appears that a "friend" of Landon's threw a toy and struck him near the corner of his eye and this one was a bleeder! He certainly was a trooper and and he was too excited about his colorful band-aids! Nevertheless, it is so hard to see your child get hurt, even a tiny bruise (which is quite common for Landon). Everyone tells me it will get easier to deal with but I am having a hard time believing that!
On a positive note, he spent the whole day at school in his "Cars" big boy pants and had NO accidents! YEAH!!!!

So much to catch up on... Baptism & Birthday Party!

Landon's Godparents - Tommy & Barbara
So Angelic!
Landon & Grandma Lynn
Pool Time with Mommy
Fun with Maddie!
Being away from home for 5 days really has me all out of whack! Not only am I really behind at work, I have been really behind at home too. I felt like I was living in "fantasy land" for 5 days! Anyway, a lot of excitement for Landon over the past week. First, his baptism was held last Saturday and it was wonderful. His Grandma Lynn even drove all the way from Kentucky to be there! Then she was lucky enough to get to stay and spend the week with him. His Godparents, Tommy and Barbara Britt were also in attendance, as well as myself, his Daddy, Gi Gi, Papa, and of course, Cathy and Ken Rodriguez. It was truly a blessed event and Landon and I are so grateful for the loving support system we have in each and every one of our friends and family.

When Mommy finally did get back home from Club Med, we went to Landon's girlfriend's 4th birthday party - Maddie! And all the better for Landon, it was a pool party! He loves the water and he loves Maddie! They had so much fun with her new Hannah Montana and High School Musical microphones. Quite an act!

POTTY!!!!

Landon has finally done it... potty trained! Well... most of the time. He has been much more consistent and I can't tell you how proud, and relieved, I am. I always heard that it was harder to potty train boys but my goodness! Hopefully I will be able to throw away those pull-ups (and save some money on diapers!)And the look on his face when he knows he has done somethng that makes Mommy so happy is the most wonderful thing in the world!

In Memory of Sarah

I haven't been able to post to our blog for a little while as I was at Club Med in Port St. Lucie having a wonderful time at a much needed getaway. However, I received a phone call from my friend Miche that made me very sad. Sweet Sarah Dodd passed away on Wednesday. She was a wonderful dog and a great companion. Although she only lived with us a for a couple of years I loved her very much. I wish I could be with Miche during her time of grief and I know Sarah is looking down on her smiling. And wishing Miche a very happy birthday! We will miss you Sarah Jane!

Countdown to Honduras....

Cathy & I during Hurricane Ivan September 2004... FUN TIME!

The countdown has begun.... Cathy & Ken (and Baby Rod) will be leaving for Honduras in a little over a week and Landon and I can't help but be sad. :-( Cathy had her first ultrasound this week and it was just the most wonderful thing to see the pictures and her excitement. So much more to come and I will miss seeing her every week and watching her belly grow! I know from experience what lies ahead for her and I want so badly to be there when she experiences that first kick, that crazy craving, and all the fun things that come along with being a preggars! I'm just going to miss everything about her. We have been through so much together. So, yes... I am getting mushy! I can't help it! We love you Aunt Cathy and Uncle Ken.

And yes Cathy... I will get my passport turned in so I can make an appearance in Honduras. No worries!

Happy Mother's Day!

Landon's Trip Home from the Hospital

It is so hard to believe that it is already my third Mother's Day! I remember the day the above photo was taken and it seems just like yesterday. I am truly blessed!!! Not only because I am the mother of a wonderful little boy but because I have the most loving and supportive friends and family. Several of my close friends called to wish me Happy Mother's Day! And Landon gave me a beautiful figurine that said "If mothers were flowers, I'd pick you!" I loved it! And my mother gave me a beautiful card that brought tears to my eyes.
I must say that a phone call last night was the icing on the cake. My friend Miche (Anne Michelle to most people) called to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. Miche is a special friend, we have been buddies since we were about 7 years old and oh the stories we could tell about it other (which we won't, right Miche???) We also were roomies for a few years several years ago. We are so alike in many ways and yet so different. It just seems to be a perfect match. Miche is in Birmingham now and I really miss her! Landon and I are really looking forward to our vacation to Disney World with Miche in the fall. We can't wait!!
And Happy Mother's Day to you Miche from Sarah and Smokey!

Aunt Cathy's Baby Shower

Landon, Gi Gi and I went to Aunt Cathy's baby shower this weekend. It was so nice (thanks Lauren!!!). It was such a treat for Landon because not only did he get to see Aunt Cathy and be surrounded by all women, he also made a brand new friend... Kate. Kate is Lauren's 5 month old little girl and she is precious! Landon loved her and they entertained each other very well. Aunt Cathy was also sweet enough to include Landon in the opening of the gifts. He got a kick out of that as well.

Mommy & Landon Photos

Many people have asked who took the main picture on our blog. The photographer's name is Steve Hough. Isn't he great? Visit his web site at www.stevenhphotography.com. Landon and I had a blast and we ended up with approximately 400 pictures!!

Finally.....

We get to share the great news... Aunt Cathy is going to have a baby! We are SOOOOOOO excited! Landon keeps asking to see Cathy's baby so I have tried my best to explain why he can't see the baby right now. Anyway, congrats Cathy & Ken! We can't wait to meet the newest Rodriguez!!

Bike Ride!!!

Landon has finally decided that his big boy bike is pretty cool!

Big Boy Bike & Butterflies

Another fun weekend. Despite his head wound, Landon had a great time riding his big boy bike. He got the bike from Santa at Christmas and hadn't shown much interest in it, he still preferred to ride his little big wheel. But something changed this weekend and he asked to put his helmet on and ride the big boy bike. He is really getting the hang of it, even stopping. On Sunday, we went to the park in Navarre and we were lucky enough to see some fishermen on the deck using a casting net to catch some bait fish. Landon was fascinated. There was also a crane waiting patiently on the dock for some fish and the fisherman was nice enough to throw him one. Landon just thought that was the neatest thing. We watched him cast his net several times and each time Landon just said "Wow, he got some fish!!!" Then we took a tour of the Butterfly House also located at the park. It is a small butterfly sanctuary and it is beautiful. Gi Gi, Landon and I all enjoyed seeing all those butterflies and the beautiful greenery. Landon especially liked the butterfly stamps that the nice woman who volunteered there put on his hands. Mommy even got one!

Boo Boo Report

I always look forward to the end of the day when I get to pick Landon up from school and he rushes into my arms, delighted to see me! He lets everyone in his class know that I am HIS Mommy! It is one of the greatest feelings in the world. However, I hate it when I pick Landon up from school and I have a message that he had a "boo boo report"! Yesterday's "boo boo report" was for a face injury. No need to worry... it wasn't a bad one. It seems Landon was outside playing and decided to walk behind the swings which were occupied at the time. It was a direct hit on the cheek. I thought it would be so much worse that it was. It was hardly noticeable on his cheek (unless of course you are his worry-wart mother!) His teachers said they put a cold compress on it and gave him lots of TLC. They said he was a trooper and he never even mentioned it to me all evening. Still, I really hate boo boos of any kind!!!

UPDATE: Not an hour after I posted this I got a call from Landon's school telling me that he had a "split" to his forehead because he was hit on the head with a Thomas the Train Engine. Apprently it wasn't severe enough to require stitches, thank goodness! However, they did put a butterfly bandage on it. When we got home we put another band-aid on it and finally Landon decided he wanted a bright yellow band-aid on his forehead. It has been a rough couple of days!!!!
