My Poor Little Guy

Poor Landon! He went to the doctor this morning and has the flu. The H1N1 flu apparently. They did not actually test him for the H1N1 but at the moment they are diagnosing anyone with the flu as H1N1. My heart is absolutely breaking for him... and I am 450 miles away in Tampa. It is killing me not to be there to take care of him and cuddle him right now! It is the most helpless feeling in the world when your child is sick and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. The doctor said it would have to run it's course and Landon would probably run a fever for the next three to four days. He can't go back to school until next week. His Daddy is taking good care of him while he isn't feeling well. But I can't wait to get home at the end of the week and take care of my precious little boy! Get well soon, Landon! Mommy really doesn't like it when you are sick.

Birmingham Trip to Miche's

What a fabulous weekend! Great friends, the zoo and college football (WAY TO GO NOLES!!!)Landon and I went to visit Miche (Riley and Smoke, too) in Birmingham. Landon has been looking forward to this trip for weeks. He adores Miche and it is so easy to see why. We had the best time! We went to the zoo on Saturday and then to Miche's sister Chrissy's house to watch the Florida game. Landon found a new best friend/toy - Chrissy Dodd! Chrissy has got to be the world's best babysitter. She and Landon played cops & robbers, indians and they even had a magic wand. The fact that it was pink and sparkly was my only cause for concern. BTW - it came home with us! So, we watched the gators win and then headed to another of Miche's friend's house for the evening games. Landon made so many new friends, a couple of whom are four-legged. And to top it all off, chocolate chip pancakes on Sunday morning. He really didn't want it to end and neither did I. Thanks for a great weekend, Miche! We can't wait to see you in a few weeks at Disney. Love you!

Remembering 9-11

Remembering all those who lost their lives during a cowardly attack on our great nation 8 years ago today. Thank you to all of the men and women who proudly serve our country and fight for our freedom everyday! Never forget! God Bless America!

Our Trip to the USS Alabama

Landon, his Dad and I went to Mobile on Saturday to tour the USS Alabama Battleship. It was really neat! I haven't been in almost 20 years and I had forgotten how much fun it was! Landon enjoyed it, especially the sailors' sleeping quarters. More specifically, their beds!!

The Calm Before Tropical Storm Claudette

The middle of August and we now have our first storm forecasted to impact the Emerald Coast. Tropical Storm Claudette is headed our way and is expected to be mostly a rain maker. Tropical Storms really don't bother me. I suppose I have lived here longer enough, and experienced a few major hurricanes, that a little wind and rain just isn't much cause for alarm. Landon and I spent the afternoon on the beach, having some fun and watching the storm clouds roll in. We only encountered one brief rain shower while we walked the beach. But as soon as we headed in, the bottom fell out. We were able to find some sea snails and we spent and endless amount of time looking at each and every one of them, taking them out of the water and then putting them back.
So, if this is the type of tropical activity we are going to experience on the gulf coast, I don't mind one bit! So, bring it on Claudette! We could use the rain!

We Love Some Miche!

Landon and I absolutely LOVE it when Miche comes to town! As an added bonus, Riley made the trip with her! It couldn't have come at a better time. Just being around Miche lifts my spirits and we always have fun. We started our Friday night with a spectacular dinner and some playtime with Riley. Now, I must tell you the story about Miche and the lawn mower. Anyone who knows Miche, knows that she can, at times, be a bit clumsy. Well, let's just say she fought a lawn mower and the lawn mower won. She and Landon were playing ball and she ran head first into the lawn mower. To be fair, the lawn mower blind-sided her but she now has a nice shiner to show for it. Landon felt awful and we explained to him that it was not his fault. He was worried about his Aunt Miche. He is so tender hearted.
On Saturday, it was time to play in the water. We got Landon's inflatable boat and I can't believe how brave he was. He went a good ways out into the Sound and then we left his life jacket on and he swam around all by himself for quite some time. He had a blast in the water. And he thought it was so cool that Riley went swimming also. Such a great day and we ended the evening with "college night dinner" which is always a hit with me... and Landon like it as well. Oh, and did I mention that Miche can make one mean homemade blueberry pie! Yummy! Looking forward to seeing you in September, Miche! Love always!

Goofy Golf & Slip-N-Slide

Landon and I had a very busy Saturday. My Mom and I took Landon and his two cousins to play some goofy golf and then to a yummy lunch at Denny's. They all had a great time! When we got home, Landon wanted to go outside but it is just too darn hot this time of year. So, we pulled out the old slip-n-slide and had a fun time!
