Our Trip to the USS Alabama

Landon, his Dad and I went to Mobile on Saturday to tour the USS Alabama Battleship. It was really neat! I haven't been in almost 20 years and I had forgotten how much fun it was! Landon enjoyed it, especially the sailors' sleeping quarters. More specifically, their beds!!

The Calm Before Tropical Storm Claudette

The middle of August and we now have our first storm forecasted to impact the Emerald Coast. Tropical Storm Claudette is headed our way and is expected to be mostly a rain maker. Tropical Storms really don't bother me. I suppose I have lived here longer enough, and experienced a few major hurricanes, that a little wind and rain just isn't much cause for alarm. Landon and I spent the afternoon on the beach, having some fun and watching the storm clouds roll in. We only encountered one brief rain shower while we walked the beach. But as soon as we headed in, the bottom fell out. We were able to find some sea snails and we spent and endless amount of time looking at each and every one of them, taking them out of the water and then putting them back.
So, if this is the type of tropical activity we are going to experience on the gulf coast, I don't mind one bit! So, bring it on Claudette! We could use the rain!

We Love Some Miche!

Landon and I absolutely LOVE it when Miche comes to town! As an added bonus, Riley made the trip with her! It couldn't have come at a better time. Just being around Miche lifts my spirits and we always have fun. We started our Friday night with a spectacular dinner and some playtime with Riley. Now, I must tell you the story about Miche and the lawn mower. Anyone who knows Miche, knows that she can, at times, be a bit clumsy. Well, let's just say she fought a lawn mower and the lawn mower won. She and Landon were playing ball and she ran head first into the lawn mower. To be fair, the lawn mower blind-sided her but she now has a nice shiner to show for it. Landon felt awful and we explained to him that it was not his fault. He was worried about his Aunt Miche. He is so tender hearted.
On Saturday, it was time to play in the water. We got Landon's inflatable boat and I can't believe how brave he was. He went a good ways out into the Sound and then we left his life jacket on and he swam around all by himself for quite some time. He had a blast in the water. And he thought it was so cool that Riley went swimming also. Such a great day and we ended the evening with "college night dinner" which is always a hit with me... and Landon like it as well. Oh, and did I mention that Miche can make one mean homemade blueberry pie! Yummy! Looking forward to seeing you in September, Miche! Love always!
