Zoo - Part 2

We were lucky enough to keep Cathy and Jenna for a couple of extra days thanks to some travel delays. So, Cathy, her Mom & Jenna joined us for a trip to The Northwest Florida Zoo. It was Jenna's first trip to the zoo! And what a perfect weather day for the zoo! I think Jenna enjoyed it and I know the rest of us did also. Aside from Landon's little meltdown in Taco Bell afterwards (thank goodness they are extremely rare), it was a another great day. Cathy and Jenna will be heading back to Honduras on Monday and we will be counting down the days until they return in June!!!

Our Country Adventure

My Kansas roots have a very strong hold on me as I prefer the country to the beach any day! So I was really looking forward to taking Landon up to a friend's place in North Florida on Saturday. My friend Cathy, Landon and I headed up to the Donaldson's house for a day in the country. It was so peaceful and an all-around great day. We started the day with a little horseback riding. Cathy and I rode "Daisy", a beautiful, sweet mare. Then it was Landon's turn to ride. I really wasn't sure if he would even get on the horse but he got on with me. It didn't last too long however. But then my friend Larry got on Landon took a ride with him and enjoyed it. Then he got to meet the Pony, "Star". "Star" was his favorite but he didn't care to ride him. He wanted to walk him. He walked him over and over and over again, all around the pen. Then he got to feed the horses and the pony which he loved. Then it was off to the pond for a little brim fishing. I'm proud to say that Landon caught his very first fish. His casting needs a bit of work though. Cathy was the expert fisherwoman - she was catching them left and right like a seasoned pro. I, however, didn't catch near as many, but the ones I did catch made up for it in size. When we got back up to the house, Landon wanted to see "Star" again so he and Larry headed back to the horses. At one point, Larry brought "Star" out of the gate so Landon could walk him around outside. This is what Landon and I have come to call "Star's Great Escape" because while Landon was holding the lead, Star took off at a run and we all tried to round him up. Luckily Larry was able to catch him so Landon now calls Larry a hero. And finally, Landon found the tractor and Larry was sweet enough to take him for a ride and even let him drive. I thought I would never get him to leave. I'm pretty sure all of us could have stayed there forever. Needless to say, he passed out on the ride home. When he woke up, he talked about his adventure all evening long. I can't wait to visit again! Thank you so much to the Donaldsons for allowing us to spend some time with them at their beautiful country home. I think Landon has now officially adopted both of them as grandparents. He has already asked numerous times if he can go back to Mr. Larry's house!

For my friends!!!!

Lately I have really been needing my friends. And what great friends they are! Things have been very tough lately and I don't know what I would have done without some of you. I am so blessed to have so many TRUE friends and I cherish each and every one of you. I can't begin to thank you for all that you are to me! So, here's to all of my wonderful friends. I love you all so much!

A little sentimental:

We all need someone to talk to in our life, A friend to whom we run in times of stress or strife A friend who's always there throughout the years, A friend we know will care and take away our fears. A friend who's always near, waiting for our call, to wipe away our tears, and lift us when we fall. A loving friend indeed, on whom we can depend to fulfill our every need -Thank you, precious friend!

And a little humor too:

1. When you are sad - I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.
2. When you are blue - I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile - I will know you are plotting something that I just have to be involved with.
4. When you are scared - I will rag your sorry ass about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried - I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.
6. When you are confused - I will use little words.

7. When you are sick- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.
8. When you fall - I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask;'because you are my friend'. Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

For my fellas too:

Our Weekend Getaway

Landon and I had the absolute BEST weekend. My friend Cathy is home from Honduras until the end of March so we were invited to stay with her and her sweet 3-month old Jenna at a gorgeous condo in Destin. It was like old times... my friend Lauren also came out and brought her cutie pie, Kate, for an evening. I can't remember a time when Landon has had so much fun. He LOVES Aunt Cathy's "house" and didn't ever want to leave. That makes two of us!

It was exactly what I needed. I am going to be so heart broken when Cathy & Jenna return to Honduras later this month but I will cherish the memories from this weekend and keep them with me... always! Looking forward to so many more! Love you girls and thanks so much! You truly saved me!

Sweet Jenna!

My Sweet Jenna!
Jenna & Lauren
Cathy & I... Reunited at last!
Cathy, Jenna, and her two Aunts, Lauren & Nicole

I finally got to meet sweet Jenna (AKA - Baby Rod) this past weekend. It is so hard to believe she is already 3 months old. Several of us attended Jenna's Baptism this past weekend and then got to spend some time with Cathy and her family at her family's house. Jenna is just so beautiful and as yummy as can be! I'm so glad that Jenna and Cathy will be here until the end of March. It feels like old times and I will love every minute I get to spend with them! Love you girls!

Miche & Timmy!

My friend Miche drove all the way from Birmingham on Friday to meet her future hubby - Superman himself, Mr. Tim Tebow (or "Timmy" as it appears he is called). He was a guest at the All Sports Banquet this year and Miche was lucky enough to get to meet him and get a photo with him. I'm pretty sure it was love at first sight. Now, I must also mention that I am not a Tim Tebow fan for very obvious reasons (GO NOLES!) However, I must say that he appears to be a pretty good guy and he is one hell of a football player. And because of him, I got to spend a Friday night out with my best girl, Miche. It was just like old times and I miss her so much! Landon misses her also. He absolutely adores her. I haven't seen him bond with anyone quite like he has with Miche. He was so upset when she had to head back today and he couldn't go with her. Move over Mommy, Miche is in town! :-) And by the way, if it works out and a marriage is in the works, I want some credit for it, in the form of money! Just kiddin' Miche! Landon and I will be grateful to "Timmy" because he was the reason Miche was here and we love and enjoy her so much! So, here's to Timmy (just this once)!

Here are a few photos from our weekend with Miche.

Elvis, Barney & Buford

I had the chance to get a photo with Elvis, Barney Fife, and Buford T. Justice. If you don't know who they are, then you are probably too young!

I've never been much of an Elvis fan (especially the "later years") but this fella might just change my mind. He puts on an awesome show and is pretty easy on the eyes.

Landon Through The Years

Just a few of the thousands of photos I have of Landon since his arrival 2/7/2005 to his 4th birthday. It just gets better all the time! Enjoy!

My Sweet Valentine!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! I'm not much of a Valentine's person, not since my high school and college days (My boyfriend used to go all out and always made me feel special then!) But now I have the sweetest, most wonderful guy to call my Valentine. He is a blonde cutie and goes by the name of Landon. All he has to do is smile and my heart melts. He is the greatest guy I know! Happy Valentine's Day to my sweet valentine, Landon.

Wiiiiiiii

Landon loves the Wii he got for his birthday! His favorite game is boxing. Here is a short video of him "training" for a match. Bob & weave....

Landon's 4th Birthday Party

This year, Landon's birthday party was at the local KidZone which is filled with jump houses and other fun stuff for kids. Landon seemed to really enjoy it. Special thanks to his Godparents for throwing the party and to Eva for the great photos!

Happy 4th Birthday Landon!

Four years ago today, at exactly 3:44 PM, my life changed forever. I became a Mommy to a 7 pound beautiful baby boy. I was scared to death! But I was also happier than I have ever been in my entire life. At that moment, I couldn't imagine that it could ever get any better, but it most certainly has. The joy Landon has brought me over the last four years is truly undescribable. He is my life and I love watching him grow and experience new things. I just wish it wasn't going so fast. Four years has FLOWN by! So, Happy Birthday, Landon! Mommy loves you more than anything in this whole wide world! I look forward to every moment I get to spend with you!
When I get more time I will post some pictures of Landon "through the years." No time today, too busy celebrating with my little 4-year old man.

Cupcake Mania!

What do you get when you leave a 3-year old, his dog, cupcakes & icing in the room for just a few moments???

Thats right! Landon put more icing in his mouth and on the dog than he put on the cupcakes. It was too cute!

Happy 8th Birthday Lily!

Today is my dog, Lily's birthday! She is 8 years old (or 56 in doggie years). She is really my firstborn as she is the first pet I have ever had on my own. I got her in 2001, when she was about 12 weeks old and she was the cutest little puppy! She is a PAWS pound puppy, a mut really, and the nice ladies at the pound assured me she would be about 30-40 pounds full-grown. 80 pounds later, she is my big, beautiful girl. Her favorite person - my Dad. Lily and my father bonded the first moment they met. He would come and get her some weekends and take her to run at the hunting camp over at Bunker Creek and she thought she had died and gone to doggie heaven. She loved it and she loves him. I hate that she hasn't been able to see him in over two years. He still asks about her every time I see him.
Since Landon came along, I haven't been very good at celebrating my dogs' birthdays. I actually used to go all out for her birthday (remember that, Miche???) Ok... so I recently saw Marley and Me and it got me thinking about Lily's mortality and I really don't know how many more birthdays I might have with her. As you can see from some of the later pictures, she is getting pretty grey. She can still act like a puppy from time to time. So, here is a tribute to my big girl on her 8th birthday. I love you, Lily. Thank you for bringing so much joy into my life and loving me unconditionally (even when I won't get out of bed to let you go outside!) Enjoy the slideshow!

Cumulus vs. Cops for St. Jude's

On Saturday, I went to a charity basketball game benefiting St. Jude's Children's Hospital. It was Cumulus (our local radio station) vs. the Cops (OCSO). I didn't actually play as basketball isn't a sport I ever really got into (I actually don't even like watching it much) but this game was entertaining. There was also another VERY good reason to watch, one of the referees was Coach Lavin (the picture in the slide show says it all!!) And the cops also had a secret weapon on the roster in K-9 "Tyson". Who was going to mess with him??? Naturally, I was an aging cheerleader for the cops! It was so much fun and what a turnout. Nearly 1,000 people packed the FWB High School gym to watch the game and the total raised for St Jude Children's Research Hospital was $6681.60 which is awesome. And the Cops kicked butt with the final score 104-90, winning the "sprinkled donut" trophy. What a great community we live in that so many people will turn out for such a great cause! We already have the rematch scheduled for January 30 next year so hope to see you all there. Enjoy some of the pics!
